Services for archers, coaches and federations
Let's work together, whether you shoot or coach others: I work with archers, coaches, clubs and federations. Almost everything starts with the full assessment, which brings your shot on video, your competition scores and physical tests into a single picture. From there you can go on to a programme built around a goal, or work on one area only: physical preparation and arrow volume with the training protocols, or shoulder load and the return to shooting after an injury. For coaches, clubs and federations there is education and group work and, for federations, a demonstration of ARCOS.

Full assessment
Your shot on video read through its metrics, your competition scores read statistically and your physical tests: all in one report, with priorities that state how much research backs them.
Price on request
Who it is for
It is where almost all my work starts. It suits archers who train a lot but have been stuck for months, those whose errors keep coming back the same, and those who want the numbers to show how much of their swing in competition is chance and how much is work still to do.
What you get
- A reading of your video with Eyercer: shot timing, aiming stability, follow-through and how your shot holds up across the session
- A statistical reading of your competition scores: the floor, meaning how much your total moves when nothing has changed, and how many points an improvement needs before it rises above chance
- Archery-specific physical tests and, where useful, a validated mental skills questionnaire
- Your priorities, each with its status in the registry and the measure that will show whether it worked
- A second measurement after 8 to 12 weeks, with the same tools, to see what has changed
Duration
Report within 10 days of receiving all the material, second measurement after 8 to 12 weeks
How it works
- You send me the material. I tell you how to film yourself (angles, distance, number of arrows), which competition scores to gather and how to run the physical tests. A smartphone is all you need.
- I read it all together. I run the video through Eyercer to extract the metrics, read your scores with the same calculations behind the tools on this site, and set the physical tests alongside them. These readings are usually done by different people at different times; here they end up in a single picture.
- You receive the report. The priorities are few and in order. For each one you see how solid the research behind it is, with a link to the registry entry, and the measure we will use to check whether the work has had an effect.
- We measure again. After 8 to 12 weeks we repeat the same measurements. The comparison shows what has moved, what has not, and where to go next.
How do you read my competition scores?
With the same calculations you can use for free on this site, applied to your totals: the floor calculator shows how much your score moves when nothing has changed, the score gap calculator how many points it takes to show you have improved, and the change detector the round at which an improvement rises above the noise. In the report I read them for you and set them alongside the video.
What does it mean that each priority comes with the state of the research?
It means I tell you what each recommendation rests on. If the registry lists it as reported or corroborated in archers, you see that; if it is contested or not studied, you see that too, and the priority becomes a hypothesis to test against your own numbers. How the statuses are assigned is explained in how the registry works.
Which physical tests and which questionnaire do you use?
Archery-specific tests, chosen on the basis of what I see in the video, and a validated mental skills questionnaire only when it can tell us something useful. Research has limits on both and I make them clear: a test that reproduces the draw of the bow has never been put to the test, and short questionnaires struggle to tell one archer from another. That is why I use them as measurements to repeat over time, not as verdicts.

Recommended
Programme
Several months of work built around a concrete goal, measured at the start and at the end with the same tools.
Price on request
Who it is for
For archers with a clear goal and the time to work towards it: a season to build, a selection to prepare for, a return after time away or after a block in the shot.
What you get
- The full assessment at the start, and again at the end with the same measurements
- A plan that brings together shooting, physical preparation, arrow volume and the competition calendar
- Periodic reports, comparing your data from one report to the next
- Review sessions by video call
- Email support between sessions
Duration
3 months, renewable
How it works
- We set the goal. First we decide where you want to get to and by when: a competition, a selection, a season, a return. The goal decides what we measure and the order in which we work.
- Numbers first, hypotheses second. You send me video of your shot, filmed to a set protocol. You fill in a questionnaire and share your recent scores. From there we build an objective picture of where you stand today. Without that foundation, any advice is just a guess.
- One variable at a time. There is almost always one thing that, if you change it, shifts everything else, and depending on the archer that will be posture, release timing or where the gaze settles. You change one at a time, because changing five together is the fastest way to never understand what actually works.
- The perfect shot does not exist. The goal is not the memorable arrow. It is the rising average. Getting there takes a sustainable programme, proper recovery weeks, real periodisation. Nothing like "100 arrows a day and we'll see", which is almost always the surest way to reach competition season already burnt out.
- The final measurement. At the end of the programme we repeat the measurements from the start. The comparison shows what has actually changed and what is left to do, and from there we decide whether and how to carry on.
Do I need to do the full assessment first?
The programme always starts there, because it is the measurement we compare the end against. If you have done one recently, we start from it without repeating it.
When do we start?
We schedule the first session within 14 working days of confirmation, unless we agree otherwise.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. For programmes lasting more than a month, payment can be arranged in instalments.

Training protocols
Archery-specific physical preparation, periodisation and arrow volume planning, built on what research on archers knows and open about where it knows little.
Price on request
Who it is for
For archers who want physical preparation designed for shooting rather than borrowed from other sports, and for coaches who have to plan a group's season.
What you get
- An archery-specific physical preparation programme: strength and endurance for the draw and the hold, scapular control, trunk stability, thoracic mobility
- Season periodisation, worked backwards from your target competitions
- An arrow volume and load plan, week by week, including recovery weeks
- Next to each choice, the status of the research in the registry
- The measurements we use to check the programme at the end of the block
Duration
Blocks of 8 to 12 weeks, then we measure again and update
How it works
- I start from where you are. You tell me your competition calendar, how many arrows you shoot now, the time you have for strength work, your bow and your draw weight. If you have done the full assessment, I start from its numbers.
- I build the programme. Physical preparation, periodisation and arrow volume in a single plan. For each choice I note how much research on archers supports it, and where studies are missing I start from a general training principle that we treat as a hypothesis.
- We check it. At the end of the block we repeat the measurements. The next programme is built on what has changed, not on what we expected.
What research is it based on?
On the studies in the registry, and they do not all carry the same weight. That an off-range strength programme increases an archer's measured strength, and that it extends holding time at full draw, is reported by small studies pointing the same way. How fast to increase arrow volume from week to week, on the other hand, has not been studied, and the same goes for tapering before a competition. The full reasoning is in the articles on periodisation, specific strength and how many arrows to shoot each week.
Do I need a fully equipped gym?
No. The programme is built around what you have available, whether that is a gym, a few resistance bands and a pair of dumbbells at home, or the range itself.
What about my coach?
The programme sits alongside the technical work, never in its place. If your coach wants, I share it with them, so that arrow volume and strength work take account of what you are building on the range.

Prevention and return to shooting
Load management and shoulder conditioning for the demands of shooting, and a gradual return to arrow volume after an injury, once a doctor or physiotherapist has given the go-ahead.
Price on request
Who it is for
For archers who shoot a lot and want to keep the load on the shoulder under control, and for those returning to shooting after an injury that a doctor or physiotherapist has already assessed and cleared.
What you get
- A reading of your current load: arrows, draw weight, shooting days, strength work, competition calendar
- A conditioning programme for the shoulder and trunk, built on the demands of shooting
- After an injury, a plan for a gradual return to arrow volume, in stages, agreed with whoever is looking after you medically
- The measures to check before moving from one stage to the next
- Next to each choice, the status of the research in the registry, including the points where studies are missing
Duration
Blocks of 8 to 12 weeks; a return to shooting takes as long as the agreed stages
How it works
- Clearance comes first. If you have pain or a current injury, the first person to see is a doctor or a physiotherapist. I start working once they have assessed you and given you the go-ahead, and from then on I work in agreement with them.
- I read the load. Together we look at how many arrows you shoot, at what draw weight, on how many days, and how that fits with strength work and competitions. It is often in the sum of the weeks that the load gets out of hand.
- We build up in stages. Arrow volume and strength work increase step by step. You move on to the next stage when the measures allow it and whoever is looking after you medically agrees.
Can you treat my injury?
No. I do not diagnose, treat or rehabilitate injuries: I am a kinesiologist (LM-67), conditioning coach and personal trainer, and my field is exercise. Diagnosis and treatment stay with your doctor and physiotherapist. I take care of physical preparation and a gradual return to shooting once they have cleared you, in agreement with them.
Will this work keep me from getting injured?
I cannot promise that, and research on archers would not allow anyone to. Whether rotator cuff strengthening prevents shoulder injuries has never been studied in archers: no study has counted injuries after an exercise programme. What studies report, across different samples, is that the shoulder is the most common site of overuse injuries. That is why I work on load and shoulder conditioning and measure how you respond; the full picture is in the article on injuries in archery.
What if the pain comes back during the return?
We stop, and you go back to whoever is looking after you medically. The plan resumes only with their agreement, from the stage we decide on together.

Education
Courses and workshops for archers and coaches, and mentoring for coaches who want to learn to read their own archers through numbers and research.
Price on request
Who it is for
For coaches and instructors who want a method for reading their archers, for clubs that want to train their own staff, and for archers who want to understand what their training rests on.
What you get
- Workshops on biomechanics, motor learning, physical preparation and reading scores, in person or online
- Coach mentoring: for a few months, one or more of a club's coaches work with their own archers using my method, and we review the cases together
- Working materials: assessment sheets, protocols and the calculations for reading competition scores
- Video courses in preparation: training periodisation, research-based mental skills training, applied biomechanics of the release
Duration
Tailored workshops; mentoring over a few months; the video courses are in preparation
How it works
- You write to me. Tell me who you are, how many coaches or archers would take part and what you want to learn to do.
- I build the programme. Topics, length, in person or online: the workshop or the mentoring is built around your group and the level of your archers.
- We work on your archers. In the mentoring, coaches apply the method to their own athletes: assessment, reading scores, priorities with their status in the registry, a check after a few weeks. I review the cases with them, step by step.
- The method stays with you. At the end, the coaches can carry out on their own the readings they have learnt, and the club keeps the materials and protocols.
When will the video courses be out?
When a course is ready I announce it here. I am currently preparing three: training periodisation in archery, research-based mental skills training and the applied biomechanics of the release. If you would like to know when the first one opens, get in touch.
Does the mentoring work for a single coach?
Yes. It can be a single coach or a club's whole coaching staff: what changes is the number of archers we work on, not the method.
What experience do you have in coach education?
Since 2019 I have taught biomechanics, motor learning and control, training methodology and warm-up protocols applied to archery for the FIARC education department, on instructor courses and masterclasses. In 2027 I will be one of the lecturers at the IFAA Youth Camp. The rest is on the about page.

Clubs and federations
Group assessments, reports on individual athletes, coach education and, for federations, a demonstration of ARCOS, the system I am developing to read the competition data of a whole population of archers together.
Price on request
Who it is for
Clubs, associations and federations with archers to develop and coaches to train and, at federation level, squads to follow and selections to make on criteria that can be explained.
What you get
- Biomechanical analysis of the shot, for an individual athlete or the whole group
- Technical and functional reports on individual athletes, especially for cases that are not improving
- Group assessment days and physical and functional screening
- Workshops and education programmes for coaches and instructors
- Support with season planning, periodisation and monitoring protocols
- For federations, a demonstration of ARCOS, the system in development for following squads, reading competition data and giving selections transparent criteria. The demo runs on fictional data; ARCOS is performance intelligence, not a medical tool
- Talks and science communication, in person or online
Duration
Tailored, from a single report to a full coaching education programme
How it works
- You write to me. Tell me who you are, which archers and coaches you work with, and what you are looking for.
- We design the intervention. With clubs I design tailored interventions: an assessment day, a workshop, a programme for coaches, a monitoring protocol. With a federation we start from the competition data that already exist, and a demonstration of ARCOS, on fictional data, shows how they can be read.
- I work with your coaches. Always alongside them, never in their place, with a method that stays with the organisation afterwards.
Do you also work in person?
Most of the work is online. For on-site days and workshops, I am happy to discuss in-person arrangements.
Is there an example of a report?
Yes: in the Lab you will find a real case, anonymised and complete. It is a pre-anchor block analysed in depth, from the assessment to a twelve-week return plan.
Is ARCOS a medical tool?
No. ARCOS is a performance intelligence system: it is designed to read performance, consistency and load from competition and training data and to propose technical readings and corrections. It does not diagnose, it does not prescribe and it is not a medical selection criterion; it supports coaches and, where needed, the federation's medical staff, without replacing them. It is still in development, so what I offer federations is a demonstration on fictional data: the system is described in the Lab.
Who I work with
-
Archers
For those who shoot
I help archers understand their own shot pattern more clearly, identify physical and technical limitations, build a training plan that actually makes sense, and maintain quality when fatigue sets in.
Most useful for those who train a lot but have been stuck for months, those with recurring errors that never quite go away, and those who want to integrate strength work and shooting properly.
-
Coaches
For those who coach
I work alongside the shooting coach, never in their place. The coach leads technical development; I bring a biomechanical and physical reading of the athlete's body, which often explains why certain corrections fail to stick.
Particularly useful when the athlete understands the correction but cannot hold it, or when an error looks technical but is in fact physical or coordinative.
-
Clubs
For teams and clubs
With clubs I design tailored interventions: group assessment days, physical screening, workshops on biomechanics and conditioning, programmes to prevent overload.
Through to coach education, monitoring protocols, and individual and group reports.
-
Associations and federations
For those who teach and share knowledge
Since 2019 I have worked with FIARC as an instructor and educational collaborator, bringing biomechanics and motor learning applied to archery into the federation's training circuit.
With associations and federations I can design educational programmes, science communication, and methodological support for groups of archers or coaches.
How I work
The method is the same at every level, from a single archer to a whole federation, and it loops back on itself: the last phase leads into the first.
-
Observe and measure
I start from the data: video, target pattern analysis and, where the work calls for it, physical and functional assessment. No snap judgements: first I understand what is actually happening.
-
Interpret
I bring together body, movement, and shot behaviour to get to the cause, not just the visible error. This is the part that makes the difference.
-
Intervene
We work on one variable at a time, with clear priorities and specific exercises. We change what the data calls for, not what has always been done.
-
Verify
We compare against the starting point and measure the change. Then the cycle begins again, one loop at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work online only, or also in person?
Most of my work is done online, by video call, shared video files, email and messages. Working online gives flexibility over scheduling and lets me work with archers wherever they are. For specific situations, such as club days and workshops, I am happy to consider coming in person.
Do you work with compound archers or only recurve?
Both. Much of what we measure is universal: posture, stability, consistency across the session, periodisation. The specifics of the release and equipment differ, and the work adapts accordingly.
Do you replace my federation coach?
No, and I would never want to. I work alongside your coach, not in their place. They coach you on the range; I add a different layer of analysis: data, biomechanical assessment, periodisation, integration of strength training and shooting.
I am a beginner. Is it useful to work with you?
In your first 6 to 12 months you need a certified federation coach on the range, in person, giving you real-time corrections. Once you have solid foundations and feel the need to go deeper, that is when I can help. For now, the most useful thing I can offer you is my articles: you can read them all here, free.
I have pain or an injury. Can you help?
If you have pain or an injury, the first person to see is a doctor or a physiotherapist: I do not diagnose and I do not provide treatment. Once they have cleared you, I can take care of your conditioning and your gradual return to shooting, in agreement with whoever is looking after you: that is the work described under prevention and return to shooting.
What are your credentials?
Bachelor's degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bologna. Master's degree (LM-67) in Preventive and Adapted Physical Activity at the University of Urbino, with honours: I am a kinesiologist. FIARC instructor and educational collaborator since 2019. You can find my full background on the about page.
