Each circle is a study: its position gives the year, its row whether it is for, against or context, its size how many participants it measured. Light circles are studies on other populations or without archers.

There is a single survey, of twenty archers from the Jakarta regional squad preparing for the Indonesian National Games, using a closed questionnaire of thirty-seven items on the relationship with the coach. The overall rating is good but not unreserved: on average 73.7% of the possible score, with 72% of answers agreeing or strongly agreeing and about one in four uncertain or negative. Among the five dimensions the weakest are openness and equality, with about 16% of answers in disagreement, while the strongest is a positive attitude, under 6%. Ratings within the squad are similar, from 125 to 148 points, so there is no small group of dissatisfied archers dragging the average down. It remains a snapshot of one squad, in a regional journal, with no link to scores, drop-out or anything else measurable.

Also phrased as: "archer-coach relationship"; "interpersonal communication between coach and athlete"; "the coach listens to the archer"; "relationship with the coach in archery"

In practice

It is said that between archer and coach trust counts for more than technique, and that a coach who listens gets more out of archers than one who only gives orders.
